The 62s is super nice. I am really happy with it. Although I would really love a case for my device, or at the bare minimum a screen protector. There doesn't appear to be much available online, and the case that Garmin is offering looks cheap.

I have an Oregon case that I have been trying to sell for a while, and with a slight modification it might fit my 62 just perfectly. The modification would be cutting a small section out of the top of the case to make room for the Antenna

I'll try to find something else first, but in the end, this mod might be the cheapest way to make things work, and lets face it... after spending so much on my 62s I am all about cheap! :cheer:

Sure CZ, I just need $536.90 collateral first LOL

Graciious I took a screen protector from the Nintendo DS, and with a pair of sharp scissors I made a slight modification and to works pretty well.

But I will be glad when the proper screen protector comes out

Just loading the USA and Canada Topo's and trail maps as we speak

536.90 That's not so bad.. I ended up with a bill of 597.70 for mine. Mind you, I included an extended 2 year warranty in my price. I am sure I paid more than I should have for a GPS since I am really only a casual cacher. In the end I will hopefully be happy with it for the next three years (at least!).

on a side note, my case modification worked perfectly. So long as you don't expect it to be pretty. I cut a small square from each half of the Oregon case and the GPS fits snuggly inside with just a small piece of the antenna protruding through the hole.

Here are the Before, After, and Antenna (Protruding) shots.

The quality of the images is garbage (they are from my Blackberry) but you will get the idea. It will save my GPS from bangs and bruises next week while I am wandering in the bushes near Bancroft. I still need to pretty up the hole with some duct tape and super glue. I will try to make it pretty tonight.

Thanks for the tip on the DS Screen protector though. I will look into that.

Looks good.

I'm taking mine out to the cottage this weekend to give it a work-out.

Going cliff climbing, my C300 was bouncing all over,(the signal that is) will see how the GPS62s does.

It is nice to be sitting in my house with 3/4 signal
