Snowshoes on sale

Postby mm_dancer » Sat Dec 12, 2009 4:59 pm

Just thought a few KAGers out there might like to know that Tubbs snowshoes are on sale at Sportchek right now,

I have the 25 inch brown ones and love them, the 'x' shaped bindings take a tiny bit longer to put on, but they don't budge at all, I've done 9km and not had to adjust them once and no snow got between my book and the snowshoes

Happy caching

I wonder how these compare to MSR 'Lightning 25'?

Looking into pairs but don't wish to purchase junk.

How did you find the wear and tear? And you found them pretty solid and sturdy?

I find my Tubbs great, now I haven't really used them all too much, two times i think, as I got them late last winter, but after those two trips, pretty long ones i must add, they look brand new still. Hoping to get out on them after my exams are done!

Last year I introduced AD to snowshoes but the kind we have own are the aluminum military ones. They work great for me at 5'11, but for someone who's 5'1 - 5'2, they are pretty massive and caused some slower trips. The price of your suggested shoes are pretty reasonable too. We're both looking at finding slimmer pairs so we can get onto some trails up here in the Kawarthas when time permits.

My exam count is 4 left. Only return to school for the Jan 11th. Which will give plenty of time to chase some caches in the micro infested realm of quinte. Just getting out will be amazing!

Thanks Meghan!

Thanks for the heads up mm_dancer. We wanted to get another 2 pairs so that we have a family set--so this was perfect timing.

I am hoping to get out and do some snowshoeing/caching over the holidays--and now have a couple of extra pairs I could loan out if someone would need to borrow a pair...
Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?

Another Snowshoe Sale at MEC

Postby swimmrguy » Sat Dec 26, 2009 10:41 am

Here are some clearance prices on snowshoes at MEC. You can see them here.

I have the Atlas 1030s and have found them to be a good pair of snowshoes (though I haven't used them all that much.) Now, if we can just get some more snow--wait, did I just say that????

You have the 1030s? That's a model I tried on last time I was at MEC. Wasn't too sure about the foot ties. Do you find them sturdy enough? No breaks or anything?

There is practically no snow left on the ground here in prince edward county. Sad to say, but I miss the snow too. I wonder how much peterborough has left - Ahhh well.

Yep, both Bluesaway and I have that model. The bindings have been fine, so far. Haven't used them a lot but they have been great so far. I did read a few good reviews of them online--but ultimately it was my wife who picked them out for me (for last Christmas) based on the recommendation from Trailhead.

Got the "last pair" of the 1035's. Only problem - where's the white stuff?

Heading to Gatineau for reading week so perhaps the park will have some remaining.

Thanks for the recommendation... @ 148$ you can't beat that.
