Lost but found... one heck of a journey.

Have questions about trackables? Have a TB or coin that has a special mission? This is the place to post them.

Lost but found... one heck of a journey.

After reading " Be on the Lookout - TB/Coin Thief " thread, I fear something similar occured to one of the coins I brought to Kingston a month or so ago. I dropped it at the Trixies treasures caches on the queens campus and thought nothing of it. But I tend to check on some of the neat coins / tbs i gather from time to time. Ended up seeing that this coin was Found on a VIA train. I recall the coin had a pretty cool design and also a good plate detailling the whole "if found, please keep moving along" deal.

Well, this is where luck or being lucky comes in play. The coin was picked up by a user who logged it in as being found on gc.com. This is amazingly cool that he did all this. I read the log on the coin and he indicated where he found it etc. I kind of took it upon myself to congradulate him on finding it and logging it in. He emailed me back saying he wasn't sure what to do with it and what the purpose behind it was. He even asked if he should leave it on a bus or a plane to be found next. This cracked me up a bit but I told him to put in his postal code on the main page of GC.com and he found a park next to his place that he figured he could locate. About a week or so goes by and he emails me back saying he finally found the cache without using a GPS but it wasn't large enough for dropping off a GC! Again, I got cracked up hearing his story about finding a cache after a week or searching on a few attempts without a GPS. Good lord I can only imagine what troubles he went through without a unit. He went on saying that he won't invest the money on a unit for a one shot deal. (Looks like we didn't get a new cacher involved afterall :( )

I replied to him saying if he wishes, by all means mail the coin back to me and i'll put it in a cache large enough. He's been a great guy going through and trying to move the coin along and he even took the time and money to mail the coin back to me. Looking forward to moving this coin onward once again.

I wonder if there would be a way to log the accumulated travels ? :P

Cool story.

Another option might be to contact a couple owners of caches near by his residence to see if they'll repatriate the coin and move it into a suitable cache.

Very cool.
It sure is comforting to know that there's still a few decent and honest people out there.
Good for him.

Great news, whats the tracking number of the coin, not the logging number.

Hey just saw this today!

We got out caching on the weekend in the lovely sun and got a tan while we were at it.

Put the coin in the bowels of Goodrich Loomis Conservation Authority... I used to work for the CA and thats one heck of a jem for a location.

the tracking number is: TB1T2G3

All the best,
J&a
