Have you seen the new line of Geocaching-friendly GPS receivers that are coming out this summer? They look very nice!

Garmin GPSMAP62 Series

GPSCity.ca is listing the GPSMAP62 for $369.95 and the GPS62S for $459 (yikes!)
Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?

This may solve my dilemma of carrying an Oregon and a 60CSX. Anybody want to buy an Oregon and a 60 CSX.

If it had Wherigo I might consider it, seems like a great unit besides that!

I find it completely odd that they'd leave out the Wherigo capability, unless Garmin believes that Wherigo's are a passing fancy (or they know something we don't...hmmmmm).

Well, it would seem pretty obvious that Wherigo isn't really going anywhere. The Builder is still in alpha, and neither it or the PPC Player have been updated since 2008. Anyone who has used the builder knows that it is far from stable.

Garmin themselves would ultimately be responsible for providing updated versions of the Wherigo players that they would include in firmware updates. It would appear that they don't plan on doing that.

So for me, not having Wherigo wouldn't be a huge loss to me.

It's too bad Wherigo building is not easier.

I know it would catch on in Cache saturated towns like ours.

I have tried a few times and it's hard to do.

We drove up to Stouffville the other day to do a couple.(of Wherigo's)

One was a drivable one, the other walkable

Both were awesome.

I had my Oregon for just under a year, and didn't touch Whereigo's. My 62S arrived today and although I haven't seen it, I know fedex left it at my wife's office. So I will start playing with it tonight.

we'll see how I do.
