Before you can get hunting, you will need to register to get an account at Geocaching.com. A basic membership is free, and is all you need to get started. You can get a Premium membership by paying a nominal subscription fee. The additional features available to Premium members are outlined here.
When you register, you will be required to select a geocaching username. You might want to think about your choice of name, since it will become your identity to the Geocaching community. Once you have registered a username, you will not be able to change it without creating an entirely new account.
